Buckwheat: properties and advantages

You have most certainly already heard of Buckwheat, you have probably seen it on the supermarket shelves, or tasted it as a dark-colored cake. Nevertheless, what are its properties and benefits? How can it help us in our diet?

Properties

Although it is classified in the different diets as a cereal, it does not actually fall into this category, although it shares many of its nutritional characteristics.

Nutritively, it is an excellent source of complex carbohydrates, it also contains a significant amount of vegetable protein and fiber and all this with a minimum of unsaturated fats.

Several studies speak about an anti-inflammatory effect on the body due to its intake of polyphenols, which are also important antioxidants.

Benefits

Buckwheat is a good food for our diet because it provides quality nutrients. In addition, its high fiber content promotes intestinal functions.

However, perhaps the most important thing is that it is an excellent option to get complex carbohydrates for those on a gluten-free diet.

In short, it is an excellent alternative to cereals as a source of carbohydrates and can help you supplement your diet if you have gluten problems.
