Complete Guide to Hostile Creatures in Minecraft

During your adventure through the vast world of Minecraft, you will encounter various creatures with varying characteristics, some friendly and others less welcoming, with which you will need to learn to live in harmony or avoid. To facilitate your progress, we have compiled a comprehensive list of all the hostile creatures present in the game.

The Spider

When defeated, the Spider can grant you between zero and two string, as well as between zero and one spider eye.

The Poisonous Spider

In abandoned mines, Poisonous Spiders appear through generators or spawn. These mobs can give you items like string or spider eyes when they die. However, they also pose a danger, as if they touch you, they can poison you. This inflicts damage reducing your health points for 7 to 15 seconds.

The Creeper

The infamous Creeper can appear anywhere, provided the light is low enough. When it dies, it can leave between 0 and 2 gunpowder as a reward. If killed by a Skeleton, it may drop a music disc. Finally, if eliminated by the explosion of a Charged Creeper, it can give you its head as loot.

The Zombie

The Zombie can emerge on any block in poorly lit areas but will be consumed by even the slightest ray of sunlight. If you manage to defeat it, you can get between 0 and 2 rotten flesh as a reward. Additionally, the Zombie can also give you an iron ingot, carrot, or potato when it dies. Finally, if you manage to defeat it with the explosion of a Charged Creeper, you can have its head as loot.

The Husk

The Husk is a different version of the standard Zombie that will give the same items as a reward (rotten flesh, iron ingot, carrot, potato). However, it can inflict the hunger effect on the player who touches it and will not be affected by sunlight. It is also capable of avoiding water.

The Zombie Villager

The Zombie Villager is a common variant of the Zombie that looks like a Villager. In terms of rewards, it gives the same items as the standard Zombie (rotten flesh, iron ingot, carrot, potato).

The Skeleton

The Skeleton can appear anywhere, provided the brightness is low enough. It is capable of attacking you from a distance and inflicting considerable damage if you are unprepared. The Skeleton can also make you fall from heights. In case of victory, it can offer you between 0 and 2 arrows, between 0 and 2 bones, and very rarely, a bow. Finally, if you manage to eliminate it with the explosion of a Charged Creeper, you can recover its head as loot.

The Stray

The Stray is a version of the Skeleton that appears in cold places. It uses projectiles that cause a slowing effect. It provides the same reward as the Skeleton and also has a 50% chance of dropping a slowing arrow when defeated.

The Spider Jockey

The Spider Jockey can appear anywhere as long as the brightness is low enough. This creature is a hybrid between a spider and a skeleton and drops all the items that can be obtained from the two basic creatures upon death.

The Wither Skeleton

The Wither Skeleton appears on bridges in Nether fortresses. Upon its death, it will give between 0 and 1 coal, between 0 and 2 bones, and more rarely a stone sword or its skull.

The Blaze

The Blaze is a creature that appears in Nether fortresses. It attacks by firing salvos of three flaming projectiles at a distance. When it dies, it can drop between 0 and 1 blaze rod.

The Magma Cube

The Magma Cube can be encountered in all areas of the Nether, although it is less common outside of fortresses. When killed, it may drop between 0 and 1 Magma Creams.

Zombie Pigman

The Zombie Pigman can be found in all areas of the Nether and will not attack you initially. If you attack one, all other Zombie Pigmen will pursue you. When a Zombie Pigman dies, it may drop between 0 and 1 Rotten Flesh and between 0 and 1 Gold Nugget. Additionally, there is a low chance that you may obtain either a Gold Ingot or the Zombie Pigman's Sword.

Ghast

The Ghast is a creature that can be found everywhere in the Nether. It floats at a fairly high altitude and will shoot explosive fireballs at you if you get too close. If you manage to kill a Ghast, you can obtain between 0 and 2 Gunpowder as well as between 0 and 1 Ghast Tear.

Enderman

Endermen are very common in the End, but can also be found more rarely in the Overworld. They will start attacking you if you look at them for too long, then teleport to your location. If you manage to defeat them, Endermen may drop between 0 and 1 Ender Pearl.

Endermite

The Endermite has a chance to spawn every time an Ender Pearl is used or every time an Enderman teleports. However, it will not drop any items when killed.

Slime

The Slime is a creature that appears in the Overworld, but only below layer 40. It is the equivalent of the Magma Cube in the real world and may drop between 0 and 2 Slimeballs when defeated.

Silverfish

The Silverfish can be found in stagnant water and does not have a specific swim. When killed, it may drop between 1 and 3 Ink Sacs.

The Drowned

The Drowned is a type of Zombie that has been submerged in water for too long. It can appear holding various items such as a trident, fishing rod, or nautilus shell. Upon death, it may drop its equipment as well as 0 to 2 rotten flesh, or even a gold ingot.

The Phantom

The Phantom can be seen at night if the player hasn't slept for three days. It dives onto the player to attack but cannot appear if the player is in a closed area. Upon death, the Phantom may drop 0 to 1 Phantom membrane.

The Shulker

The Shulker is a creature that inhabits the End and is mainly found in cities. Upon death, it has a chance of dropping 0 to 1 Shulker shell.

The Ravager

The Ravager appears during village raids in the second wave.

You now know most of the hostile monsters present in Minecraft. Of course, new monsters are added during game updates, such as patch 1.20, which is coming very soon.
