Quique Sánchez Flores will not stay at the helm of Getafe

The Madrid club announced on Thursday the dismissal of their coach after the defeat against Almeria which left them one step away from the relegation zone.

Quique Sánchez Flores's third stint as coach of Getafe CF ended on Thursday after the club's announcement that he would no longer be retained.

The 1-2 defeat against UD Almería, a direct rival in the relegation battle, was the trigger for the dismissal of the Blue and White coach.

Quique Sánchez Flores took over the reins of Getafe CF for the third time in October 2021, replacing Míchel González. Since then, the coach has turned things around and managed to avoid relegation last season. This year, after an inconsistent start, Getafe climbed up the rankings and seemed to have slightly moved away from the danger zone, but two defeats in their last games have left the club on the brink of relegation to LaLiga SmartBank.

The club has not yet announced who will succeed Quique on the bench and who will have the task of saving the team from relegation in the remaining seven matches.
