LEGENDS, The Home of Football, presented by LaLiga, made its debut surrounded by global football legends and in the presence of national and international institutional representatives. Marcelo Ordás, President of LEGENDS, and Javier Tebas, President of LaLiga, were joined by former footballers such as Luis Figo, Gary Lineker, Mario Alberto Kempes, Hugo Sánchez, Javier Zanetti, Lothar Matthäus, David Villa, and Claudio Paul Caniggia during the official inauguration of the space. They all came to support a unique project in the world, which opened its doors in Madrid on June 1st.
During the presentation, Marcelo Ordás, President of LEGENDS, stated, "The dream come true is to arrive in the world capital of football, Madrid, with all the most important football institutions and with the heritage of the king of sports, so that all Spaniards and visitors from around the world can be truly moved. LEGENDS will be a cult experience."
On the other hand, Javier Tebas, President of LaLiga, said, "LEGENDS is a milestone in the history of global sports, and we are very proud to be part of this project. We will further promote Madrid as the epicenter of this sport on a global scale, and we will do so by protecting its heritage."
LEGENDS, The Home of Football presented by LaLiga offers visitors a collection of 600 relics that were used in matches by the players themselves and are endorsed by UEFA and FIFA. The pieces correspond to all kinds of international competitions such as the FIFA World Cup, the Euro, the Copa América, the UEFA Champions League, the Copa Libertadores, the Olympic Games, the Intercontinental Cup, the Club World Cup, the UEFA Europa League, women's football, and each of the major legends and national leagues, including LaLiga, among others.
All these pieces have been on display since June 1st in a seven-story building located at Carrera de San Jerónimo, 2, right in the heart of Madrid's Puerta del Sol. Its 4,200 square meters will include a virtual reality play area, a football store, a 4D cinema, augmented reality robotic games, and a room called Football Art, where visitors can enjoy an immersive and moving experience through state-of-the-art technology and projections. The building is topped by a LaLiga TwentyNine's restaurant located on the rooftop, offering a privileged view of Puerta del Sol.
LEGENDS, The Home of Football presented by LaLiga is a project involving LEGENDS, LaLiga, and UEFA, and it has the institutional support of FIFA, CONMEBOL, the IOC, and several global football legends. The collection comprises more than 5,000 items, with a part of it being exhibited in Madrid. In the coming years, it is planned that the remaining relics will be displayed in new spaces opening in other cities in Europe and around the world.
