EA SPORTS FC™ and LALIGA join forces to build the future of football in Spain

EA SPORTS FC™ and LALIGA join forces to build the future of football in Spain

A renovated community field has been inaugurated in Madrid, with the commitment to provide essential equipment and 10,000 balls to over 100 local schools as part of the EA SPORTS FC™ FUTURES initiative.

Electronic Arts Inc. has presented its FC FUTURES program in Spain in collaboration with its partner LALIGA and FC FUTURES ambassador Fernando Morientes at the Francisco de Laguna field in Vallecas. With the inauguration of this renovated field in southern Madrid, young footballers in the area now have additional access to pursue their dreams on the playing field.

EA SPORTS, in collaboration with LALIGA, will invest in community football by providing balls, jerseys, cones, and other essential football equipment, with over 10,000 balls intended for schools and academies throughout Spain. The LALIGA Foundation will reinforce EA SPORTS' commitment by delivering equipment to over 100 local schools and academies that are part of their Futura Afición project, as well as to camps with socially vulnerable children and international projects such as the Zaatari and Azraq refugee camps in Jordan.

The Francisco de Laguna field has been renovated with the creative support of Boa Mistura, a local artistic collective known for their installations in public spaces, whose aim is to enhance quality of life through art. Blurring the boundaries between real and virtual football, the refurbished field will be available in the game later this year.

The event was presented by commentator Miguel Ángel Román and featured the presence of James Salmon, Senior Brand Director of EA SPORTS FC, Olga de la Fuente, President of the LALIGA Foundation, and Fernando Morientes, Ambassador of FC FUTURES and LALIGA. As part of LALIGA's Futura Afición project, children from Santa María La Blanca School and the Dragones de Lavapiés NGO had the opportunity to enjoy a training session with the former forward of Real Madrid and Liverpool, during which they learned tricks and tips to give their best on the field and develop their skills.

"EA SPORTS FC is investing in the future of football, a future that involves providing young people with the tools they need to make a positive impact on the game and pursue their dreams," said James Salmon, Senior Brand Director of EA SPORTS. "Our vision is to inspire the world to love football, and our mission is to provide broader access to the sport. Our partnership with LALIGA is another step in that direction."

"For LALIGA, this is a first step in our shared mission to drive the future of football and harness the power of football for social transformation. Our partnership with EA SPORTS FC is a natural fit as we share the same values and vision for the future. These values are amplified through collaboration within this project, as the synergies will help drive initiatives such as the LALIGA Academy Madrid for training and development, as well as corporate social responsibility projects like Futura Afición and international sports projects initiated in refugee camps like Zaatari and Azraq," said Óscar Mayo, Executive Director of LALIGA.

In addition to initiatives in Spain, EA SPORTS is developing a library of freely accessible training practices as part of its global FC FUTURES program. The training practices will be available in six languages, allowing players and coaches in the community to access them online and incorporate them into their training plans. In Spain, these training practices will feature the voiceover of one of the world's most renowned former football players and ambassador of FC FUTURES, Morientes.

As leaders in global football, EA SPORTS and LALIGA are committed to promoting education, training, and opportunities beyond Spain. They will award 20 scholarships to young football players from countries such as Tanzania, Malawi, Nigeria, Poland, and India, combining football and education at LALIGA Academy Madrid.

EA SPORTS has defined interactive football for 30 years and has created a global football community of over 150 million people across multiple platforms. EA SPORTS FC will continue to expand this community alongside partners who share the common goal of a fan-centered future of football. Built on values of inclusion and innovation, fans will experience unparalleled authenticity with access to over 19,000 licensed players, 700 teams, and 30 leagues, supported by over 300 global football partners enabling further expansion into new areas such as women's football and grassroots initiatives.
