Patch 13.5 of League of Legends was released on Wednesday, March 8th, and includes various modifications to several champions and game items. Here are the four major changes in this patch, including Yuumi's rework, Kennen and LeBlanc's buffs, significant adjustments to Azir, and important changes to the jungle.
Yuumi undergoes significant changes in this patch due to her gameplay being considered "annoying," particularly due to her ability to become untargetable. Therefore, developers took advantage of this patch to make the character more punitive.
The rework includes a complete change to her passive, allowing her to accumulate heals for her allies every time she deals damage. She will then automatically heal the attached ally every 4 seconds.
Her Q is now controllable only at the beginning of its cast time. Her W no longer provides adaptive AP or AD bonuses. Her E no longer heals but now provides a powerful shield. Her R increases the resistances of all allies hit.
To make LeBlanc more accessible, Riot has decided to modify her Q, Sigil of Malice, to be used for farming. Its mana cost will be completely refunded if it kills a unit or if its explosion is triggered by another spell. Its cooldown is also reduced by 30%.
Kennen benefits from a significant improvement to his early game. His W, Electrical Surge, now has a range indicator. The cooldown of his Q is reduced from 8 to 7 seconds at level 1.
Azir's passive, Shurima's Legacy, undergoes many changes, increasing his damage and health points but reducing its duration by half, from 60 to 30 seconds.
In exchange, Azir loses durability and sees the damage of his Q reduced in early game but increased in late game. He also loses 70 health points but gains armor, from 4.2 to 5 per level.
Riot decides to remove the additional damage to jungle monsters. Junglers will now deal the same damage to all monsters, whether they are in their jungle or not. This change has a clear purpose of bringing back the concept of counter-jungling.
Moreover, the experience gained by junglers from lanes is reduced from 75% of the total experience to 40-75% (from 0 to 14 minutes of play), avoiding the funneling strategy, which involves sharing your ally's minions to accumulate extra experience. Now, gaining experience early will mostly be done by killing monsters.
The monsters see their gold rewards increase by about 5 to 10 gold per camp. These changes greatly impact the way junglers will farm. These modifications aim to make viable the characters that need to farm.
Players have been eagerly awaiting an adjustment to the Blue Essence prices of champions. The cheapest champions are considered perfect for new players, while the most expensive are the recently released or difficult-to-play champions.
