Currently, the League of Legends anti-cheat system, Vanguard, is sparking intense discussions. Why? Some players have noticed that the system starts running as soon as the computer boots up, even if League of Legends is not running. In response to player concerns, Riot has provided explanations to reassure the community. The system, called Riot Vanguard, starts with the PC to ensure its effectiveness, but it consumes very few resources and, most importantly, does not collect any data.
However, if you still wish to disable this anti-cheat, here's a guide on how to deactivate Vanguard for League of Legends.
An employee from Riot has suggested two methods on Reddit.
The first one is relatively simple: just search for "Riot Vanguard" in the list of programs and uninstall it. However, this will lead to the program reinstalling when you launch League of Legends, and you will also need to restart your computer.
The second method requires exploring your folders. Here's the procedure:
Access the folder containing Riot Vanguard.
Find the file vgk.sys and rename it (any name will do).
Restart your computer.
Before playing League of Legends, go back in the process to reactivate Vanguard.
It's important to note that the use of cheat software is prohibited and sanctioned by Riot Games, even if the Vanguard system seems to prevent many abuses.
Finally, it's worth mentioning that the three upcoming champions planned for 2024 have been revealed, with the imminent arrival of Smolder, an ADC. There's also a mid-range solo lane mage from Vastaya and Ambessa Medarda, Mel's mother in Arcane.
