LCK battles DDoS attacks, hurting viewership and broadcast reliability

LCK faces viewer decline after persistent DDoS attacks

The LCK (League of Legends Champions Korea) faces a turbulent period as relentless DDOS attacks disrupt its broadcasts, causing a slump in viewership and raising concerns among fans and stakeholders alike.

Disruptions commenced on February 25 during matches between DRX versus Dplus and BRION Blade versus Afreeca Freecs in the Group Stage's first phase. These malicious assaults have targeted the league's broadcasting infrastructure, causing frequent interruptions during live matches and significantly undermining the viewing experience for fans worldwide.

The lack of live matches has led to a drop in viewership, with Week 6, Day 2 seeing the lowest number of viewers. The LCK is a popular tournament, especially with teams like T1 and player Faker, but these disruptions have hurt its momentum and left fans and players frustrated with the ongoing DDoS attacks.

Fans, players, and stakeholders alike express concerns over the future of the LCK amidst these ongoing disruptions. The esports community calls for swift action and robust security measures to safeguard the integrity of competitive gaming in the region. As the league grapples with these challenges, all eyes remain on how organizers will address and overcome this critical issue to ensure the continued growth and success of the LCK.
