SRG reigns supreme in MPL MY S13, shattering viewership records
MPL Malaysia Season 13 just wrapped up, and it was HUGE! The Selangor Red Giants (SRG) came out on top, and esports fans went wild! Everyone was glued to their screens with a record-breaking 10.5 million hours watched – that's 13% more than last season! The average number of people watching at the same time jumped 23.3%, and at the peak, even more people tuned in – a 14.4% increase!
Shredding through the competition, SRG dominated the league with an undefeated group stage run. They then crushed both King Empire and RSG Malaysia in the playoffs. While they stumbled a bit in the finals against the reigning champs HomeBois, SRG still came out on top, racking up an impressive 28 wins and just 3 losses throughout the entire tournament. This victory is especially sweet considering SRG's history of only ever placing third in the league before.
MPL Season 13 blew up with way more ways to watch! They tripled the broadcast channels from 80 to 140, especially in Indonesia and on TikTok. Plus, other MPL leagues like the Philippines and Cambodia hopped on board, making the whole scene way bigger and easier to catch.
The grand final between SRG and HomeBois was the highlight, with HomeBois being the fan favorite and their matches among the top five most-watched games of the season.
