EDward Gaming triumphs at Valorant Champions 2024
Valorant Champions 2024, Riot Games' fourth world championship for its popular tactical shooter, concluded on August 25th in Seoul. While this tournament didn't break overall viewership records, it set new milestones on YouTube and TikTok, marking the highest audience reach in Valorant’s history on these platforms. The event attracted 497,200 viewers on YouTube and 35,300 on TikTok, primarily driven by increased activity on Asian channels.
EDward Gaming emerged as the standout team, clinching a historic victory after a thrilling five-map series in the grand final against Team Heretics. This win is a significant achievement for Chinese teams, especially following Valorant’s recent official release in China. The tournament reached a peak of 1.41 million concurrent viewers during the grand final, making it the second-highest peak viewership in Champions history, despite falling 6% short of the record set in 2022.
Interestingly, there were shifts in viewership trends. The official English and Japanese streams saw their lowest watch time, while Thai, Korean, Vietnamese, and Chinese streams reached record highs. The event also marked its debut on new platforms like SOOP and CHZZK, reflecting Riot Games' effort to diversify its broadcast strategy. As Valorant Champions 2025 moves to Paris, the potential for breaking new records remains strong.
