FlyQuest’s first LCS title amidst rising viewership in 2024 finale

LCS Summer 2024: Viewership soars in final split amid anticipated major changes

The LCS Summer 2024, marking the final split in the current format of North America's premier League of Legends competition, concluded with a notable viewership increase.

Despite the overall decline in recent years, this split showed some recovery with a peak of over 260,000 viewers, and an average of 94,900 viewers. These figures represent a rise of 40,000 in peak viewership and 20,000 in average viewership compared to the Summer 2023 split. The grand final, where FlyQuest claimed its first-ever LCS title, attracted the most viewers, reaching 260,753 at its peak.

While this increase in viewership is a positive note, the overall numbers still reflect a larger issue within the LCS ecosystem. This split ranked only as the 14th most popular LCS split historically, signaling deeper challenges despite recent improvements. Significant changes were introduced in 2024, such as shifting broadcasts to weekends, appointing Mark Zimmerman as Commissioner, and the departure of teams like Evil Geniuses.

However, the biggest transformation is on the horizon in 2025 when the LCS will merge with CBLOL and LLA to create a pan-American league, hoping to reignite interest and boost overall viewership.
