World Championship excitement grows as teams battle for playoff spots

The 2024 World Championship has generated immense attention as it progresses through the Swiss Stage, where top teams battle for a playoff spot. Notably, this year's tournament has seen a surge in viewership and new broadcasting channels.  

The peak viewership has jumped by 96% from the Play-In stage, with teams like Top Esports and paiN Gaming setting personal audience records. Portuguese-language streams have also surged in popularity, increasing viewership by 230%, thanks to paiN Gaming’s participation. Meanwhile, Korean platform AfreecaTV has seen a notable dip in its viewership, down by 23%. 

Two teams have already secured their playoff positions: Gen.G Esports and LNG Esports. However, Chinese teams Bilibili Gaming and Weibo Gaming are on the verge of elimination after disappointing performances. The upcoming rounds will decide which teams advance and which will be sent home. Streamers, too, have benefited from the hype, with popular casters like Caedrel and Tolkin breaking personal records. As the Swiss Stage nears its conclusion on October 13, the excitement continues to build for both fans and teams alike.
