Esports World Cup 2025: Bigger, better, and more competitive than ever

The Esports World Cup (EWC) 2025 promises to be a grand spectacle, following the success of its 2024 debut. Scheduled for July and August in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the event will feature an expanded lineup of games, with Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 already confirmed as the first title. The tournament aims to outdo its predecessor in scale and competition​. 

The 2024 edition set high standards, featuring 22 competitions across 21 games and a record-breaking $60 million prize pool. The Club Championship alone boasted a $20 million purse, with Saudi Arabia's Team Falcons crowned champions. Their victory highlighted the depth of talent in the event, which brought together 1,500 players from over 100 countries.​ 

For 2025, expectations are higher. The prize pool, format, and tournament structure are expected to evolve to enhance viewer engagement and sustain competitive balance. The event will also integrate the world's largest gaming festival, featuring interactive activities, meet-and-greets with esports stars, and immersive gaming experiences​.
