Season 2 of Arcane has finally revealed the mysterious identity of the character known as Singed: he is, in fact, Dr. Corin Reveck. This revelation confirms a long-standing fan theory and sheds new light on the motivations of this complex character.
Once, Dr. Corin Reveck was a renowned alchemist at the Piltover Academy. Known for his exceptional talent, he conducted experiments on animals. However, he was mysteriously dismissed from the Academy for unclear reasons. It was at this point that his life took a dramatic turn. Dr. Reveck has a severely ill daughter, Orianna, whom he keeps in stasis inside a glass capsule connected to chemical pumps. All his experiments, including the creation of Shimmer and the monster Warwick, serve a single purpose: to save his daughter.
In the League of Legends universe, Orianna is a champion known as "The Clockwork Lady." Her original story tells how her father, Corin Reveck, gradually replaced her organs with mechanical parts to save her from a toxic gas poisoning. Arcane reinvents this story by merging the characters of Singed and Corin Reveck. In the series, Dr. Reveck/Singed keeps his daughter Orianna alive artificially, desperately searching for a way to cure her. His pocket watch, which holds a photo of Orianna, also serves as a key to access the secret chamber where she is kept.
This revelation gives a whole new meaning to Singed's actions in the series. His immoral experiments and the creation of Shimmer are not driven by simple madness, but by a desperate fatherly love. As he explains: "Everything I've done, I did it to heal her." Dr. Reveck ultimately seeks to conquer death itself. He believes that Warwick, his latest creation, may hold the key to saving Orianna. This obsessive quest to save his daughter, regardless of the cost, adds a tragic depth to Singed's character.
The revelation of Singed's identity as Dr. Corin Reveck significantly enriches Arcane's story. It transforms a one-dimensional "mad scientist" into a complex, tragic figure whose actions, though morally questionable, are deeply rooted in love and loss. This bold reinterpretation of Orianna's story and her father further demonstrates Arcane's ability to bring new depth to League of Legends characters.
