On January 29, 2025, Pokémon TCG Pocket is set to take a big step forward with a major update that will excite fans of the digital collectible card game. The update includes a brand new expansion and the long-awaited addition of a card exchange feature.
Titled "Spatio-Temporal Shock," this third expansion highlights Pokémon from the fourth generation of the Sinnoh region. With over 140 new cards, players will get the chance to discover new Pokémon, new Trainer cards, and immersive illustrations that will further enhance the collection experience. Two types of boosters will be available, featuring Dialga and Palkia. Notable cards include Lucario with its "Fighting Coach" ability, which boosts the damage of Fighting-type Pokémon, Dialga ex with its "Metallic Turbo" attack to help recover energy, and Palkia ex, whose "Dimensional Storm" attack hits all opposing Pokémon.
But the true game-changer of this update is, of course, the introduction of the card exchange system, a key feature of the physical card game that has been missing from the digital version. For now, exchanges will be limited: only certain cards can be traded, and only between friends. Additionally, players will need to respect equivalent rarities and use specific in-game items to complete the exchange. This feature will be gradually expanded over time.
Alongside the exchange feature, the patch will introduce Pokémon Tools, a new sub-type of Trainer card, as well as Thematic Collections, Solo Battles, Emblems, and other additions to further enhance the experience.
