Mobile Legends returns to U.S. after suspension

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) has officially returned to the United States after a brief suspension that left fans concerned. The game was banned on January 19, 2025, due to its ties to ByteDance, the Chinese company behind TikTok, amid U.S. national security concerns. This decision mirrored TikTok’s temporary ban, which was reversed days later by an Executive Order from President Donald Trump.

MLBB remained inaccessible for two days, prompting frustration among players who couldn’t log in or claim rewards. On January 21, the ban was lifted, allowing users to resume gameplay and download the app. Moonton, MLBB’s developer, offered players in-game compensation for the inconvenience and restored rewards missed during the downtime.

Trump’s Executive Order also grants a 75-day grace period, during which bans on ByteDance platforms, including MLBB, cannot be enforced. While this offers temporary relief, the long-term availability of the game in the U.S. remains uncertain.

The timing of MLBB’s return is significant, as its esports season begins in February. U.S. players can now compete in regional leagues without disruption, while Moonton thanked the community for their patience and support during this tumultuous period.
