Accidental Leak Reveals the Pale Garden and Creaking in Minecraft

Minecraft, the iconic construction and adventure game, continues to surprise its community. During Minecraft Live 2024, Mojang unveiled a new biome: the Pale Garden, along with a terrifying creature that inhabits it, the Creaking. The announcement excited players, especially after information was accidentally leaked, offering a more detailed preview of what awaits them.

The Pale Garden stands in stark contrast to other environments in Minecraft with its dark, desaturated atmosphere. The water, sky, and vegetation are all tinged with gray, creating a morose and unsettling ambiance. This biome is found on the surface of the Overworld and is easily recognizable due to its washed-out appearance, contrasting sharply with the serene aesthetics of other biomes.

The biome is primarily composed of pale oak trees, which dominate the Pale Garden. These trees naturally grow with decorations such as hanging moss. Players can cultivate these trees, though farmed versions lack the decorative elements present in the biome. The ground is covered with pale moss blocks and carpets. Additionally, pale lichen hangs from the branches, enhancing the washed-out, abandoned feel of the biome. The environment is designed to create a sense of emptiness and strangeness, where even the natural elements seem stripped of their vibrancy.

At night, the Pale Garden comes alive with glowing eyelid flowers and orange eyes peering on the horizon. Along with the unique atmosphere, classic hostile mobs may also spawn naturally, adding an extra layer of danger for those who venture there after sunset. The absence of music is replaced by an oppressive silence.

The Pale Garden is home to a nocturnal creature called the Creaking. This new mob freezes in place when you look at it, but follows you at a terrifying speed when you turn away.

Some pale oak trees may contain a Creaking Heart, a special block that, when activated during the night, summons a Creaking. The Heart must be placed between two properly oriented pale oak logs to trigger this mechanism. This direct connection to the Creaking amplifies the oppressive atmosphere of the Pale Garden, where danger seems to lurk in the shadows of the trees.

Resin and Eyeblossoms: New Features of the Biome

Two new features further enrich the biome: eyeblossoms and resin. Resin is a new building block. To obtain it, players must provoke the Creakings of the Pale Garden, as it is by confronting them that they can harvest resin clusters from the pale oak trees. Eyeblossoms are rare flowers that illuminate the Pale Garden at night, providing specific dyes and effects.
