In Monster Hunter Wilds, Murtabak is a key NPC for all hunters who want to optimize their resource gathering and unlock interesting side quests. Here’s everything you need to know to find him and take advantage of his services.
Murtabak is part of the Kunafa Tribe, which lives in the Windy Plains. This character plays a crucial role as the material recovery manager. Essentially, this means he allows you to automatically collect resources like herbs, honey, and mushrooms, saving you valuable time. Additionally, he is linked to important side quests, like "Ongoing Conflict," which offers great rewards.
Murtabak is mainly located in the Kunafa Windsong Village, situated in the heart of the Windy Plains. To find him easily, head to the center of the village, near the Seikrets area. You may also sometimes see him wandering around or entering nearby houses.
It’s important to know that Murtabak is only available during the day and in the Abundance season. If the climate is marked by Decline or Anomaly, he and his tribe will be hiding, making it impossible to locate him. A good tip to find him: if you don’t see him right away, use fast travel to leave the area and come back, or adjust the time and season using your tent by spending guild points.
Before you can benefit from Murtabak’s material recovery services, you must first complete the side mission "Beware the Gypceros." Once you’ve completed this quest, you can use his automatic resource gathering system.
One of the most interesting quests to complete with Murtabak is "Ongoing Conflict." Here’s how it works:
Talk to Murtabak to accept the quest.
Head to the Windy Plains to face two powerful monsters: a tempered Rathian and a tempered Quematrice.
Once you’ve defeated them, return to Murtabak to receive your rewards.
The rewards include rare items like Sinister Cloth, which will allow you to craft powerful equipment.
Beyond his quests, Murtabak is incredibly useful for hunters who want to save time gathering essential resources (potions, tranquilizer bombs, etc.). Thanks to his recovery system, you can focus on what matters: hunting.
