Beginner's Guide to Rematch: Here are the mistakes you should avoid!

Rematch isn’t a game where you let the AI do the work. Here, every pass, every shot, every tackle is up to you. There's zero assistance, so everything depends on your precision, timing, and game vision. To aim, you need to properly position your camera and adjust the power depending on the distance: a light press for a short pass, a medium press for most exchanges, and a long press for powerful shots or long clearances. At first, you’ll probably miss easy actions, but don’t worry, you’ll get the hang of it by experimenting.

In defense, the most important thing is not to rush in recklessly. Defensive positioning is crucial to block shots and cut passing lanes. Then, you’ve got the sliding tackle, which is great for intercepting a player charging full speed, and the standing tackle, safer but quickly drains your stamina. The real move is using the defensive stance button to stick to your opponent without diving in, kind of like pressing in a real match. You put pressure without burning out.

When you have the ball, you need to know you're vulnerable. So forget about repetitive solo plays and play as a team. Dribbles are useful against overly aggressive defenders, and if you want to pass over a sliding tackle, the rainbow flick does the job. But the most important thing is off-the-ball play: move, offer solutions, and be unpredictable. And above all, pass! Seriously. Passing is fundamental in Rematch. You can chain passes without worrying about offside, so use lay-offs, lobs, and one-twos. If you play simply and quickly, you’ll create real dangerous situations.

One thing to remember is that Rematch isn’t a solo game. You can be really good, but if your team is lost, you won’t achieve much. So talk to your friends, share info on the opponent’s weaknesses, and spot other players' habits. Someone who always uses the same feint or plays solo is a perfect target for well-organized team pressing. Victory comes through coordination.

You also need to learn how to manage your stamina. If you sprint non-stop, you'll quickly run out of steam, and in critical moments, you’ll mess up. Save your energy for key phases, and use your special abilities at the right time. Same goes for the clock: try to gain an advantage early, but also know when to slow down and speed up when necessary, especially in the final seconds.

And then there’s the goalkeeper position, which is really unique. It’s not the AI handling it, it’s a real player. So, every duel is tense, every save counts. The goalkeeper has unlimited stamina outside the box, allowing you to play a sweeper role and launch clean counterattacks. If you read the game well, come out at the right time, and participate a little in the buildup, you can really make an impact on the match.
