Since its release on Netflix on June 20, 2025, KPop Demon Hunters has established itself as a global phenomenon. This Korean animated film, born from a collaboration between Sony Pictures Animation and several iconic figures of K-pop, tells the story of the fictional group Huntr/x – Rumi, Mira, and Zoey – idols leading a double life: music stars by day, demon hunters by night. The blend of action, musical choreography, and a graphic style inspired by webtoons quickly captivated an international audience, propelling the film to the top of Netflix’s Top 10 in 41 countries.
Beyond its success on screen, KPop Demon Hunters also conquered the music scene. Thanks to an original soundtrack featuring major artists like Blackpink and Twice, the film’s songs made it onto the Billboard charts, confirming the project’s global impact.
In response to this enthusiasm, the gaming world has begun to move. Several studios – both Korean and international – are reportedly seeking the rights to integrate the film’s universe into their projects. Two main avenues are being discussed: either developing a fully dedicated video game centered on the Huntr/x universe or collaborating with existing titles through special events or exclusive content (characters, music, accessories, etc.).
Among the targeted games, Fortnite is repeatedly mentioned. A true cultural phenomenon, Epic Games’ Battle Royale is known for its prestigious partnerships: virtual concerts, star appearances, skins inspired by popular franchises… After Ariana Grande, Eminem, and Hatsune Miku, the trio Rumi, Mira, and Zoey could soon make their appearance on the island. Leaks, notably shared by the “SamLeakss” account on X, suggest that discussions are already well underway between Epic Games and the rights holders of KPop Demon Hunters.
Fortnite’s flashy and stylized aesthetic seems perfectly compatible with that of the film. Skins, immersive concerts, emotes in Festival mode, story-driven challenges… the possibilities are numerous, and the community is already buzzing at the idea of such a collaboration. Social networks are lighting up with fan art, concepts, and speculation.
