On July 11, 2025, Fortnite marked a new milestone by welcoming Superman to the island for Chapter 6, Season 3, titled “Super.” This launch was no coincidence: it perfectly coincides with the release of the new Superman film directed by James Gunn, featuring actor David Corenswet as the famous hero for the first time. His face is also the one used for the Superman skin players can unlock through the Battle Pass, strengthening the connection between cinema and video games.
To embody Superman in-game, everything revolves around a new mythical item: the Superman Summon Crystal. Available randomly in Battle Royale and Zero Build matches, it grants the player who picks it up a whole array of legendary powers. You can fly above the island, use thermal vision to destroy structures with a glance, strike with super strength that sweeps everything away, or unleash an energy wave that pushes back nearby enemies. According to some leakers, a freezing breath power might also be activated. But these abilities don’t last forever: they are temporary and pass to another player if the current holder is eliminated. Tension rises whenever a Crystal appears, sparking a real arms race across the map.
On the cosmetics side, players with the Battle Pass can unlock the Superman skin by leveling up 12 times after July 11. Other items accompany this outfit: a glider called Daily Flight, a cape back accessory, a harvesting tool named Crystal Smasher, a Super Save emote, and an alternate Pen & Ink style, drawn by the legendary Jim Lee in a vintage comic book style. All these items can be unlocked until August 7, 2025, by completing various challenges or leveling up.
Fortnite’s island has also undergone some changes. Starting July 15, the Fortress of Solitude arrives, recreating Superman’s famous arctic hideout. This location serves as a new point of interest where players can interact with Superman in exchange for gold bars. Added to this is the Supernova Academy, another new area where players can acquire special items and climb the ranks in a heroic leaderboard. The Academy Tech Labs also introduce new items: an unstable bouncing grenade that explodes on every contact, an explosive-effect DMR every three shots, and a sprint boost called Surging Speed Boon, whose effectiveness depends on the player’s rank in the event.
