The single-player campaign of Battlefield 6 is a hot topic, especially after the complete absence of solo content in Battlefield 2042. According to several reports from the gaming press, the campaign will only last around six hours—far from the ten or more hours the developers had originally aimed for.
Initially, EA Motive, supported by Criterion and DICE, wanted to deliver a more ambitious and immersive experience. However, accumulated delays forced them to scale back their plans. The single-player mode is reportedly the most behind schedule, to the point where further content cuts could shorten it even more. Part of the studio’s resources are also being directed toward the multiplayer mode and a free-to-play battle royale, which EA sees as a key element to attract millions of players.
That said, it’s worth remembering that Battlefield campaigns have never been designed as long, story-driven adventures like GTA or Assassin’s Creed. Instead, they serve as a spectacular showcase for the game’s mechanics and weapons, offering a set of intense missions that act as an enhanced tutorial. In that sense, six hours seems consistent, even if many players were hoping for a true single-player comeback after Battlefield V.
Battlefield 6 is expected to release in October, but the risk of the campaign being cut even further remains. Fans should therefore prepare for a short yet action-packed solo experience, designed to set the stage before diving into the heart of the game: a massive and ambitious multiplayer.
