The Fortnite Global Championship 2025, set to take place at the LDLC Arena in Lyon on September 6-7, is shaking things up with an all-new trio format and two days of intense competition.
For the first time ever, the World Championship will be played entirely in trios. Thirty-three teams qualified through the 2025 FNCS after a long and demanding path that included Divisional Cups, Play-ins, Group Stages, Last Chance Qualifiers, and Regional Finals. The roster includes 11 trios from Europe, 7 from NA Central, and 3 from each of the other major competitive regions, ensuring a truly global showdown.
The action will be spread across 12 matches — six per day — with every trio competing in each round. Final standings will be determined by a points system that rewards both placement (top 1, top 5, top 10…) and eliminations, encouraging teams to balance survival and aggression. After all 12 matches, the trio with the most points will be crowned World Champions and take home the largest share of the $2,000,000 prize pool.
This edition also introduces a brand-new trophy for the competitive scene: the “Blade of Champions,” which replaces the iconic Axe of Champions and symbolizes a new era for Fortnite esports.
All matches will be streamed live on Fortnite’s official Twitch and YouTube channels, complete with detailed stat tracking, desk analysis, and exclusive drops for viewers who link their Epic Games account.
With 33 trios, 12 matches, and two days of high-stakes action, this World Cup promises to be one of the biggest esports events of the year, testing players’ strategy, coordination, and composure as they battle for Fortnite’s ultimate crown.
