August 2025 proved esports’ unstoppable rise with historic global viewership

August 2025 delivered an unforgettable month for esports fans, with several major tournaments breaking viewership records. Leading the charge, the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Mid Season Cup 2025, part of the Esports World Cup in Riyadh, drew over 3 million peak viewers.  

The ONIC PH vs SRG.OG showdown hit a jaw-dropping 2.7M peak viewers, and when Team Liquid PH took the championship, the whole event exploded past 50 MILLION hours watched. 

In the MOBA scene, League of Legends LCK 2025 Season maintained its dominance. The Week 12 showdown between T1 and Gen.G captured 1.42 million peak viewers, confirming Korea’s continued influence on global LoL viewership. Meanwhile, MPL Indonesia Season 16 made waves despite starting late in August, with matches like Alter Ego vs RRQ Hoshi already attracting 1.39 million viewers. 

PUBG Mobile World Cup 2025 also shined, achieving 1.38 million peak viewers and marking its most-watched event in four years. Closing the top five, IEM Cologne 2025 in Counter-Strike 2 saw Team Spirit vs MOUZ reach 1.14 million PV, with total watch time surpassing all previous editions. 

August’s esports scene demonstrated global appeal across Asia, Europe, and North America, highlighting both MOBA and FPS dominance and setting the stage for an exciting remainder of 2025.
