Gen.G take down Hanwha Life to secure their spot in the Worlds 2025 semifinals.

In a thrilling quarterfinal at Worlds 2025, Gen.G took down domestic rival Hanwha Life Esports 3–1 to punch their ticket to the semifinals and cement their status as the team to beat. A rematch of the LCK finals, the clash delivered everything fans hoped for — high-level play, bold picks, and pure chaos — easily one of the standout series of this year’s tournament.

Hanwha struck first in Game 1, as Yoo “Delight” Hwan-joong locked in Pantheon support — the champion’s first Worlds appearance since 2020 — while Choi “Zeus” Woo-je claimed first blood. But once Gen.G found their rhythm, there was no slowing them down. A perfectly timed Neeko ultimate from Joo “Duro” Min-kyu flipped the fight and the map, giving Gen.G the opening win.

Game 2 turned into an hour-long slugfest, with both sides trading blows until Gen.G edged ahead once again. Hanwha came back swinging in Game 3 behind Park “Viper” Do-hyeon’s crisp Sivir play, but Gen.G closed the door in Game 4 — powered by Canyon’s surgical Nidalee and Ruler’s flawless consistency, sealing the series with a 19–6 statement game.

For Gen.G, it marks their third straight Worlds semifinal, solidifying their dynasty at the top of League’s global stage. For Hanwha Life, the loss also marks the end of veteran jungler Peanut’s competitive journey, a fitting close to a remarkable career.
