Pokémon Legends Z-A: How to Change Your Pokémon’s Nature

In Pokémon Legends Z-A, a Pokémon’s Nature still plays a crucial role. It alters its stats by increasing one attribute while lowering another. For example, an Adamant nature boosts Attack but reduces Special Attack, while a Modest nature does the opposite. In previous games, players often had to catch dozens of Pokémon to get the right nature, but in Z-A, the system is much more convenient and flexible.

Once you reach the Metropolitan Zone of Illusio, you’ll unlock access to a character named Doctor Mimosa. She’s the one who holds the secret to changing your Pokémon’s nature. She’ll offer you the option to use a special item called a Nature Capsule. This item works similarly to Ability Capsules from earlier generations, it lets you change a Pokémon’s nature directly, without breeding or catching new ones.

There are several ways to obtain these capsules. The first is by completing side missions tied to the Research Guild. Some of these quests reward you with a Nature Capsule, usually after you’ve studied a rare Pokémon or submitted a detailed research report. You can also buy them with Research Points (RP), a currency you earn by filling out the Pokédex or observing specific Pokémon behaviors. The average cost is around 50 RP per capsule. Lastly, you might find them randomly in treasure chests located in the Illusio Ruins, though these are rare and unpredictable.

Once you’ve obtained a capsule, head to Doctor Mimosa’s Laboratory. Talk to her, select the Pokémon whose nature you want to change, and choose the new one you’d like to assign. The change happens instantly, and you can repeat the process as often as you like, as long as you have more capsules.

Some natures are more effective depending on your playstyle. If you’re looking for raw offensive power, Adamant or Jolly are ideal for physical attackers. For special attackers, go for Modest or Timid. Defensive tanks and support Pokémon benefit from Bold or Calm, while neutral natures like Hardy or Docile can be used if you want to avoid stat penalties, though they’re less competitive overall.

There’s also a slower but free alternative: the Advanced Training Menu found in the Research Center. By spending Affinity Points earned through battles, you can rebalance a Pokémon’s personality traits. It takes more time, but it’s useful if you want to adjust your entire team without spending your valuable Nature Capsules.

With this system, Pokémon Legends Z-A finally makes nature management quick, practical, and accessible, no more endless farming or luck-based breeding. One visit to the lab, and your Pokémon can be instantly fine-tuned for your preferred strategy.
