Guide The Great Hollow: How to Unlock and Survive the Cataclysmic Rare Field

The The Great Hollow is one of those cataclysmic rare fields you can discover in Elden Ring Nightreign, but only if you’ve already made solid progress in the nighttime content. The game doesn’t hand it to you for free: you first need to take down the two new Nocturnes from the DLC, the Scholar and the Undertaker.

As long as you haven’t defeated each of them at least once, the The Great Hollow will never appear in your expedition rotation. And careful: sometimes a simple kill isn’t enough you need a clean expedition, objective completed and successful extraction, otherwise the game doesn’t tick the box.

Once everything is in order, the The Great Hollow quietly slips into your list of rare fields. To access it, go back to the hub and head toward the jar-merchant’s corner. A chapel opens behind him: that’s your portal to the field. Interact with it to launch a The Great Hollow–marked expedition, just like any other rare field. Before leaving, take a good look at the preparation screen to make sure it’s actually the active event.

As you can guess, this isn’t a sightseeing trip. The The Great Hollow has its “cataclysmic” status for a reason: mobs hit harder, threats stack up, and the final boss, the Harmonizers, won’t give you any breathing room. Go in with a solid build, well-upgraded weapons, and a healthy stock of consumables to endure the run.

On your first expedition day, just focus on understanding the zone its corridors, points of interest, and traps. Save the real clearing for the second day, once you know the layout. Prepare escape routes, secure useful spots, and keep an eye on other active events that can completely screw you if they overlap: tornadoes, invasions, punishing modifiers…

If you push through and bring down the Harmonizers, you’ll earn high-level rewards: major weapon upgrades, damage or survivability bonuses, and sometimes new expedition options.
