The “A New Type of Plant” quest in ARC Raiders is given by Lance, the pharmacist in Speranza. He asks you to collect a toxic plant that grows near a Baron carcass, a rare resource required to unlock advanced healing items like vita sprays. On paper it sounds simple, but the area is anything but safe.
Everything takes place on the Dam Battlefield map, west of the central zone, in the old battlefield sector. If you mark the center of that area on your map, you won’t miss it: the Baron’s carcass sits right in the middle of the wreckage, with a few ARC enemies roaming nearby. The quest must be completed in a single expedition, with mandatory extraction. Make sure to equip a secure pouch, as it’s essential for storing the plant and avoiding a total loss if something goes wrong.
Avoid approaching from the south if possible. Coming in from the north greatly reduces the risk of running into Pops or Bolide patrols on your way in.
Once you’re there, spotting the plant is fairly easy. Around the carcass, you’ll see large bright red bushes, glowing and much bigger than the surrounding vegetation. Those are what you’re looking for. Stand in front of one and interact to collect it, no special tool is required. Prioritize plants closest to the Baron to limit your exposure, then immediately place them in your secure pouch through the inventory.
If ARC enemies start closing in, rely on stealth or throw a smoke grenade to disengage. Other players can’t steal the plant, but be careful: if you die before extracting, the quest fails.
Once you successfully extract, you’ll receive 1 vita spray and 5 antiseptics, a solid boost for surviving longer raids. This quest pairs perfectly with “Latent Barons”, which takes place in the same area, letting you optimize your run. For maximum efficiency, equip a suppressor and aim for the closest extraction points, especially the ones to the west.
