With the South Park collaboration, Fortnite has introduced a brand-new game mode called “Quints,” and it’s worth understanding exactly how it works if you want to jump in. This mode is designed to completely change the flow of matches, especially if you play in a squad with friends.
The concept is simple but effective. Instead of playing solo, duo, or the usual four-player squads, you form a team of five players, hence the name Quints. This format creates more intense and coordinated fights, with more teammates to protect, more strategies to come up with, and more chaos in the late game exactly the kind of madness the South Park universe loves to embrace.
You can queue for Quints in standard Battle Royale or in Zero Build, giving you flexibility depending on your playstyle. Whether you prefer building or focusing on pure gunfights, the mode adapts. Respawn mechanics follow the Quints logic: when one of your teammates is eliminated, they often have a chance to return to the match through mode-specific respawn systems. This prevents your team from being wiped too quickly and keeps the action intense until the very end.
In Quints, communication is even more important than in standard squads. With five players, defining roles becomes key, such as one player focusing on looting, another making the most of South Park items like the Stick of Truth, a support player keeping the team alive, and so on. The mode strongly rewards team-based strategies, especially when it comes to controlling key areas of the map or taking advantage of the new elements introduced by the collab.
Weapon and item balance remains mostly similar to other modes, but certain collaboration items placed in South Park–themed areas really shine in Quints, particularly for managing large-scale engagements or protecting teammates in trouble. Attacking as a coordinated group of five against a less organized team can make all the difference.
