Overwatch tier list: who are the best heroes to play right now?

The Overwatch meta at the start of Season 1 still largely reflects the balance established at the end of 2025, although the arrival of new heroes is already beginning to influence certain compositions. It is important to remember that a tier list represents a snapshot in time: balance patches and player adaptation can quickly reshape the hierarchy, especially following a major reboot.

At the moment, the heroes considered the most reliable are those capable of having consistent impact across most maps and team compositions. Among tanks, Sigma and D.Va remain safe and effective choices. Their ability to control space, survive for long periods, and protect their team keeps them consistently near the top of competitive rankings. Zarya also remains very strong in aggressive compositions thanks to her constant pressure and strong synergy with mobile DPS heroes.

On the DPS side, the meta continues to favor heroes capable of securing quick eliminations. Sojourn remains a reference pick due to her burst potential and her ability to punish positioning mistakes. Tracer stays extremely effective as a flanker in the hands of experienced players, while heroes like Sojourn or Soldier: 76 are frequently selected for their consistency and their ability to fit into nearly any team composition.

Among supports, the hierarchy is relatively clear at the moment. Kiriko and Lucio remain among the strongest choices thanks to their mobility and overall teamfight utility. Ana continues to appear frequently in more structured compositions because of her anti-heal and crowd control potential. With Season 1, Mizuki has also started to appear in certain compositions thanks to a kit that combines healing, mobility, and control, and could rise quickly in the meta if effectiveness remains consistent.

Overall, the current trend favors mobile heroes capable of influencing the pace of fights rather than static picks. Fast compositions built around a flexible tank, a flanker, and a mobile support currently dominate ranked play, especially since the introduction of new sub-roles that reinforce each hero’s identity.
