Sanguine Hibiscus in The Burning Crusade is not a traditional Herbalism plant. It is a quest-related item tied to a specific dungeon, and its main purpose is linked to reputation rather than professions or crafting.
The farming location is very limited. Sanguine Hibiscus can only be found inside The Underbog, a dungeon located within the Coilfang Reservoir in Zangarmarsh. It appears as an interactable plant inside the instance, but it can also drop from certain enemies defeated there. Since these plants respawn after a period of time, it is possible to chain runs and gather large quantities quickly, especially when running the dungeon with a fast group or solo at a higher level.
In practice, farming involves entering the instance, collecting the hibiscus plants along the route, clearing packs that may drop additional ones, and then resetting the dungeon. This method became particularly popular in TBC Classic because the spawn density remains efficient when the instance is cleared quickly.
The primary use of Sanguine Hibiscus is tied to Sporeggar reputation. Groups of five can be turned in through a repeatable quest that grants reputation with the faction. Each turn-in provides a solid amount of reputation, making it one of the fastest ways to move from Friendly to Honored without relying solely on quest chains or mob farming.
This reputation unlocks various rewards, including crafting recipes, specific consumables, and items that are useful early in the expansion. For PvE players, reaching higher Sporeggar reputation quickly allows earlier access to certain useful rewards, particularly for professions or early pre-raid optimization.
It is important to note that Sanguine Hibiscus has no direct crafting value and is not used to create potions or elixirs. Its role is purely progression-based. The item exists mainly to encourage repeated runs of The Underbog during leveling or early level 70 content, when Sporeggar reputation is still relevant.
